Governments worldwide intend to increase carbon taxes to make workers and families pay for the climate crisis caused by big business.
The Green New Deal is a set of policies to tackle climate change that puts people, public services and jobs at the heart of the change.
This means changing the economy to make it work for the many, not a tiny few - by taking the wealth and power from the 1% and using it to end the crises in health and housing, raise living standards and protect our environment. This would be a step towards creating a socialist society where people, not corporations, control the wealth and resources and democratically plan our future together.
1οΈβ£ Right to transport π - invest in a frequent, free and green public transport system accessible to all.
2οΈβ£ Change how we do agriculture to make it sustainable for all π± - farmers and workers, not the beef barons.
3οΈβ£ Workers canβt pay the price for climate change π©βπ§ - invest in a green jobs programme in renewable energy, constructing & retro-fitting homes, and expanded public services.
4οΈβ£ Introduce a 4-day week with no loss of pay π - give everyone a higher quality of life and reduce emissions by up to 16%.
5οΈβ£ Take the power and wealth from the capitalist elite π - bring into democratic public ownership the banks and major corporations so we can use this to plan our new eco-socialist society.
